Ethics Committee “Dr. Enrique T. Segura”

The Ethics Committee was created by Administrative Decision issued by the Board of Directors of IBYME and IBYME Foundation. The first meeting took place on May 3, 2000, to discuss all the aspects involved in the application of ethical standards to biomedical research in both humans and animals. This requirement, in the words of Dr. ET Segura, can cause situations of systematic doubt in researchers and other agents involved in the process of knowledge production and its application.

Common sense is not enough to solve this situation and it is necessary to resort to the thought of the diverse conceptions of the ethical world represented by the reflections of the ordinary people and the specialized version that comes from the different universally accepted beliefs to configure a set of norms and forecasts that must be observed in each and every one of the procedures.

For these reasons, it seems essential to us to have the invaluable contribution of religious leaders, philosophers, jurists, and the common citizen who guarantee the carrying out of research tasks in the broad field of contemporary culture, thus respecting the right of opinion and safeguarding the most delicate ethical estimates of our society.

This Committee has received the Accreditation since January 2013 by the Central Committee for Research Ethics (CCE) (CABA). Such Accreditation must be renewed every three (3) years, with the last one being awarded in January 2022.

In November 2016, it was registered in the National Registry of Health Research (RENIS), belonging to the Integrated System of Argentine Health Information, Ministry of Health, Presidency of the Nation.
